Up close and personal with Auto-Tune's new programmable keyboard shortcuts

Although the most visible (and audible) new features in Auto-Tune Evo provide new functionality like Notes Mode, pitch shifting, throat modeling, and object-based Retune Speed, we also focused on workflow enhancements designed to make it even quicker and easier to get the superior audio results that Evo™ Voice Processing Technology make possible.

For those of you who do most of your work in Graphical Mode, the resizable graphical editing display (covered in our last "In Detail" newsletter) is probably the most immediately obvious workflow enhancement. But there's another huge time-saver hiding in Auto-Tune Evo's Options dialog, the Key Bindings programmable keyboard shortcuts system.

The Key Binding system lets you assign virtually any Graphical Mode function to each of the QWERTY number keys (i.e., the number keys across the top of your keyboard). So no matter what your personal editing workflow, you can ensure that your most-used functions are always only a key press away.

To take advantage of Key Bindings, simply bring up the Options window and use the pop-up menus to select the desired function for each number key. (It's important to note that since many hosts reserve the numeric keypad for host keyboard shortcuts even when a plug-in window is active, the Key Bindings apply only to the number keys on the QWERTY portion of your keyboard.)

While you can certainly treat your personal Key Binding assignments as "set and forget" choices, keep in mind that they are so easy to change that it takes only a few moments to optimize them on a project-by-project basis for each project's specific editing tasks. Making sure that a project's most-needed functions are available as keyboard shortcuts will typically result in substantial time savings over the duration of the project.

Upgrades

Don't forget that upgrades to AVOX 2 are still available to owners of the original AVOX bundle, AVOX AT Native or TDM, or Harmony Engine.

And, of course, upgrades to all of Auto-Tune Evo's evolutionary goodness (including Key Bindings) are available to registered owners of any previous version of Auto-Tune.
